In early June, 2008, the Queen Creek Coalition met with Resolution Copper and their new president, David Salisbury on behalf of climbers in order to present Resolution with a Statement of Understanding. This Statement set forth, in writing, a list of our proposed desires regarding the development of the copper mine on the Oak Flat land above Superior. In early July, prior to a Senate hearing on the bill to okay the land swap that would make the mine a reality, we sent a letter to several members of Congress to transmit our Statement of Understanding to be included into the hearing minutes.
