Meeting Summary - QCC Board Meeting
December 15th, 2009
Present: Curt, Fred, Marty, John, Mike, Paul, Rick, Erik
We discussed the latest developments with regard to the Land Exchange legislation. Curt gave an update of information received back from the AF and from Congressional sources. Erik presented his email of the conversation with RCM.
It was decided that Curt would prepare for public dissemination two elements: a summary of the process, with a message that there are still steps the legislation and possible subsequent exchange must go through; and, a Call to Action based on the message that climbers are not taken care of and climbers should contact targeted public officials (Grijalva and Bingaman) to express this fact. The idea was to keep the message and action item short and specific.
The group also discussed the next steps with RCM. It is felt important that we continue to work along the track of negotiating with RCM on an arrangement that will be beneficial to climbers if the legislation were to pass.
Erik will contact RCM to set up a meeting in January. He will also ask for the latest wording of the congressional actions. In the January meeting, the group will focus the discussions on concerns and possible fixes to items from the Composite Combined Responses (Spreadsheet matrix). This list of items corresponds to each of the offer points in the RCM Proposed Letter Agreement of October 10, 2008.
